About Behind Sunday
Because great Sundays don’t just happen.
Behind Sunday is for the people working behind the scenes to make Sunday happen — production directors, creative leaders, worship teams, pastors, staff members, and volunteers who are trying to create excellent church experiences with real budgets, real teams, and real-world limitations.
This isn’t church-tech theory from the sidelines. It’s about what actually happens in the booth, backstage, in the broadcast room, during rehearsals, and throughout the week leading up to Sunday.
What you’ll find here
We’ll dig into things like:
Church audio, consoles, Dante, IEMs, Waves, Playback, and broadcast mixing
Cameras, live streaming, switching, recording, and video systems
ProPresenter, LED walls, graphics, lobby displays, and creative direction
Planning Center, volunteer teams, scheduling, and production workflows
Gear decisions, upgrade plans, budgets, and system design
What worked, what didn’t, and what we’d do differently next time
The goal isn’t to chase the newest piece of gear.
The goal is to build better systems, stronger teams, and better Sundays — while keeping the mission bigger than the technology.
Real problems. Real systems. Real Sundays.
A lot of what gets shared here will come directly from problems being solved in an actual church environment.
When we redesign a system, change a workflow, troubleshoot an issue, purchase equipment, restructure a team, or try something that completely fails, there’s probably a Behind Sunday story in it.
Whenever possible, I’ll show the work: diagrams, budgets, equipment lists, screenshots, workflows, lessons learned, and the reasoning behind the decisions.
Who is Behind Sunday for?
You’ll probably feel at home here if you’re responsible for making Sunday happen but don’t have an unlimited budget, an enormous staff, or a warehouse full of equipment.
You may be a full-time production director.
You may be the worship pastor who also runs Playback.
You may be the volunteer who somehow became “the sound guy.”
